A Brief History of the Hyundai Elantra

The Elantra is a compact car manufactured since 1990 by Hyundai, a South Korean company. It is known as the Avante in the domestic market. It competes with models such as the Honda Civic and Toyota Corolla.

Hyundai unveiled the first-generation Elantra, called the Lantra initially, in October 1990. It featured a 1.5-liter and 1.8-liter Mitsubishi engine, paired with a five-speed manual and four-speed automatic gearbox. The first generation underwent a facelift in 1993.
